    Α beautiful, finely woven shoulder bag, handcrafted by an artisan from the Chahuaytire community.

     

    Materials & Design

    It features traditional patterns with a modern touch (the same on both sides), and it has a rather large decorative fringe. It is open at the top.

    The yarn is 100% sheep wool, dyed with natural, handcrafted colors:

    • Variations of blue come from the indigo plant.
    • Variations of green come from the chillka plant.
    • Variations of yellow come from the q'olle plant.
    • Variations of red, orange and purple come from the cactus insect cochineal.

     

    Dimensions

    It is 20 cm (7.87") tall and 24 cm (9.45") wide, with a 16.5 cm (6.50") fringe extension. The strap is 128 cm (50.39") long with a drop height of 62 cm (24.41").

      I am really excited with this purchase! The material, mostly alpaca, is really high quality; the thread is very fine and it is soft at the touch, more than I would expect from a woven product. The colors come from natural dyes and yet they are more vivid than I expected.
